things I learned this summer
things I learned this summer (in no particular order):
- freedom is precious. Don’t let anyone take it away from you. Even if they do, make sure your goals are aligned with theirs
- Decentralisation of power is as important as hiring the best people.
- Culture is everything. Comprise on it and you’ll compromise the company.
- One man can make or break an organisation.
- Ask and you shall receive. If you don’t, you’ll become a slave.
- Making a bad decision is far easier than making a good decision.
- Avoid drama at all costs. Eliminate it as much as you can.
- Bonds are modern-day slavery.
- Build skills and relationships and have faith in yourself. Leave the rest to luck.
- Don’t let anyone’s ‘mood’ affect you. Stoicism always wins, no matter what.
- Skillwise, I’m not as good as I think. Need to work on that!
- Better to incur the pain of discipline than to work for someone else who doesn't give a fuck about your vision.
- People can get under my skin easily.
- Comfort is the mind killer and so is a 9-5 job.
- If you don’t build fast, someone else will.
- Founders HAVE to be builders, if they don’t, they’ve no skill and don’t deserve to run the company.
- Know your worth. Don’t let anyone downplay you.
- Done is better than perfect.
- Optimism alone won’t let you succeed but pessimism is a sure shot to failure.
- Web3 company =/= web3 culture and ethos
- Free markets always let the best products win
- You don’t need to play mind games if your skill game is good enough
- Time is always more valuable than any form of financial incentive. Protect it at all costs.
